"I worked for Authority Environmental Division 2041-2046. My job was maintaining radiation and chemical sensors in Belt perimeter zones. The sensors were calibrated to show elevated contamination even when readings were normal. It was deliberate.

When I questioned it, my supervisor told me: 'The readings serve a policy purpose. Your job is maintenance, not interpretation.' Translation: shut up and make the fake readings work.

I took my family and ran in 2046. We've been living in a Belt settlement ever since. We grow vegetables. Raise chickens. Drink rainwater. My kids are healthy. My wife is healthy. I'm healthy. If the contamination was real, we'd be dead.
