JAMES MITCHELL: IN MEMORIAM
Name: James Mitchell
Age at death: 47
Status: KILLED at North Ribbon, March 16, 2052
Survived by: Wife Diane Mitchell
NOTE: James Mitchell did not survive the North Ribbon massacre. This page exists because his name appears in survivor lists incorrectly. He was murdered by Authority personnel under Inspector Isabella Jean's command.
FROM HIS WIFE, DIANE MITCHELL:
"James was a good man. Patient, kind, always trying to do the right thing. When Inspector Jean denied our crossing, he asked politely if we could speak to a supervisor. He wasn't aggressive. He wasn't threatening. He just wanted to understand.
James was reaching for my hand when the shooting started. He was trying to protect me. He was shot in the chest. He died in my arms on the checkpoint pavement.
The last thing he did was squeeze my hand. Then he was gone.
James didn't deserve to die. None of the nineteen did. They were murdered for asking questions. For being denied travel permits. For existing at the wrong checkpoint on the wrong day with the wrong inspector.
I will never stop telling his story. James Mitchell. 47 years old. Murdered by Isabella Jean. Never forget his name."
